In this post, we will take a look at the new FooEvents Calendar Block and FooEvents Attendee Listing Block, as well as updates to the FooEvents Express Check-ins plugin and FooEvents Ticket Importer.
Earlier this year, we released our first WordPress block called the FooEvents Event Listing Block. It has been a massive hit and has quickly become a popular tool amongst the FooEvents community. This month, we are excited to add two new FooEvents blocks. The FooEvents Calendar Block and FooEvents Attendee Listing Block expand on existing shortcodes and code snippets and provide you with new ways to display event details. In addition to these new blocks, this month’s release also includes enhancements to the FooEvents Express Check-ins interface as well as updates to the FooEvents Ticket importer. Let’s take a closer look!
FooEvents Attendee Listing Block
Over the years, we’ve received numerous requests to add the ability to display a teaser list of attendees on your website. While this has long been possible using a code snippet, the FooEvents for WooCommerce (v1.19.38)ย plugin now includes the ability to add a list of an event’s attendees to your site by simply adding the FooEvents Attendee Listing Block to a page, post or custom content type.
The FooEvents Attendee Listing Block includes various filters, Gravatar support, three different display modes, and granular control of what attendee details are displayed.
When using block-based themes, if the FooEvents Attendee Listing Block is added to a Single Product page template, it will automatically display attendees for the relevant event. This standout feature makes creating richer, more impactful product pages easier than ever.
FooEvents Calendar Block
Previously, the FooEvents Calendar plugin only allowed calendars to be added to pages and posts using shortcodes. The new FooEvents Calendar Block, included in FooEvents Calendar (v1.7.4) plugin, nowย offers a modern alternative, providing an elegant way to add and configure calendars on your posts and pages.
Similar to the FooEvents Attendee Listing Block, when using block-based themes, if the FooEvents Calendar Block is added to a product page template, it will automatically display calendar entries for that particular event. This is especially useful when using the FooEvents Bookings plugin. When the FooEvents Calendar Block is displayed on a bookable product, it will only show time slots for that specific product, allowing your customers to browse bookings using a calendar.
in the example above, when a customer selects a booking slot from the calendar, the page will load and automatically populate the date and time slot booking fields.
FooEvents Express Check-ins Updates
We implemented various subtle improvements to the FooEvents Express Check-ins plugin. This includes more refined column groupings, less clutter, and moving less frequently used check-in status controls to the Optionsย button. These changes save space and make scanning information much easier. We also optimized the FooEvents Express Check-ins interface for enhanced mobile-friendliness.
FooEvents Ticket Importer Updates
The FooEvents Ticket Importer has also received some attention. Weโve added the ability to link imported tickets to existing WooCommerce orders, making it easier to generate tickets for past sales. If you previously sold access to an event without using FooEvents, you can now generate tickets for those past orders. To do so, simply export your WooCommerce order and attendee information as a CSV file. You can then import the CSV file using the FooEvents Tickets Importer and map the generated tickets to the existing orders. This feature is ideal for retrofitting installations where “tickets” were solid using WooCommerce without FooEvents, or for migrating from another ticketing system.
We’ve also added the ability to set the import batch size. Previously, tickets could only be imported in batches of 100. We’ve added a setting under the FooEvents > Settings > General that allows you to adjust this amount up to 5000 tickets per batch. Of course, this figure depends on your server’s configuration and capabilities.
Conclusion
We are really excited about these updates and would love to hear your feedback, so please get in touch if you have any ideas or suggestions. Up next, we have started working on compatibility with the WooCommerce Cart and Checkout blocks, and we are developing a new version of the FooEvents Check-ins app, which is almost ready for beta testing.
