The FooEvents Check-ins app, which was released way back in 2016, has been the backbone of event check-ins for thousands of FooEvents customers—checking in over 15 million tickets to date. It has evolved considerably since the initial launch and we’re thrilled to unveil a completely rebuilt FooEvents Check-ins App (version 3.0.0), which will begin rolling out over the coming days. The new app, shaped by invaluable feedback from many of you, is faster, more flexible, and more reliable, tailor-made to keep your events running smoothly.
A Faster, More Flexible Experience
We rebuilt the new FooEvents Check-ins App in React Native, enabling us to introduce new features and roll out updates far more efficiently. This also delivers a smoother, more responsive experience on both iOS and Android devices. Along the way, we incorporated several highly requested enhancements. Here are some of the key improvements and new features:
Optimized for iPad and Tablet Devices
For the first time, the new FooEvents Check-ins App is fully optimized for tablet devices! This means you can take advantage of the larger screen real estate to view more attendee information, speed up the scanning process, and manage on-site check-ins with greater ease. Of course, it still looks and feels great on phones too, thanks to a responsive interface that automatically adapts to any device size.
Enhanced Event & Ticket Filters
Filter events by authors and categories; and filter tickets by variation attributes for precise search and management.
Improved Scanning Process
The scanner stays open after a successful scan so you can quickly process multiple attendees.
Date-Restricted Calendar
When selecting dates containing slots or tickets, the calendar now only displays dates between the first booking slot and the last booking slot—minimizing mistakes and confusion.
Loading Bar & Cancel Option
While loading tickets in batches (when enabled in the plugin), you’ll see a progress bar with the ability to cancel if needed.
Check-In Log
New in this version is the ability to see a log of an attendee’s check-ins, much like viewing a ticket in the WordPress admin dashboard.
Testing and Gratitude
The new FooEvents Check-ins App went through an extensive Beta Testing phase and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and shared their insights. Your feedback helped us polish the app and ensure a stable, high-performing experience for the wider FooEvents community.
Staggered Rollout
We will begin rolling out the app to all FooEvents customers in a staggered approach starting on 28 January 2025. Keep an eye on your updates and notifications. If you have a high-priority event happening soon, you can continue using the current version of the app with full functionality until you’re ready to upgrade.
Please note that once you upgrade, Apple and Android do not provide a simple rollback option. If you’re preparing for an important event soon, you might prefer to remain on the current version of the app until your event has concluded.

Requirements
In order to use the new app, you will need to install 1.19.43 or a newer version of the FooEvents for WooCommerce plugin on your WordPress website.
